How come I cannot hear my voice when I speak into my Centrois microphone?

I just recently purchused a Centrois undirectional microphone. I can hook it up to the "audio in" jack in my JVC sound system and I can hear through the speakers when I tap on the microphone but, when I speak, I cannot hear my voice on the speakers. Are my speakers a different frequency than the mic? What can I do to fix this?
