Question
I am trying to connect my sony DAV-TZ510 DVD HOME THEATRE SYSTEM to my tv which i have connected my laptop via hdmi, but cannot get the sound to work
i have tried using the red and whit audio out from the tv to the back of the system nd have tried several different cables to ensure it was not those. i am not sure whether it is the system or the tv that i am having the problem with. if it helps the tv is a 37inch toshiba model number 37e200u, thanks in advance!

2 things to make sure are done properly:
1 - The red and white composite cables are coming from an AUDIO OUT not audio in.
2 - Your laptop settings have the sound going out via hdmi and no headphones are plugged in.
I do this with my laptop with a Samsung 42" and this audio system and it works great!

No it doesn't. It takes the red and white rca cables as the input from a TV.

Yes you can. You have option of connecting a Blu Ray player to the receiver.

It should be able to work just fine as long as your TV has the red and white rca OUTPUT on the back

Yes you can for the audio. The Source sells a y-adapter that goes from the headphone jack of the computer to the red and white input of the receiver.

The quality is great and the length is about 25 feet for the rear speakers and 10 feet for the front.
You can upgrade the speakers or the receiver unit if you wish, just make sure it's a universal receiver that you buy. Just cut the end pieces off and plug into the new receiver.
If you are not sure, just go to your local Source store and they will help you out further.

You will get about 50' for the rears and about 25' for all the other speakers. as for quality and a possible upgrade Sony dose have a one off wire. and the quality it Sony, HIGH this would be my next choise for home theatre.
